The PPD.A volumetric measuring device was specifically developed for measuring volume changes in small volumes of liquids at high base pressures of up to 17 bar. It is primarily used to determine the inflowing or outflowing pore water in triaxial tests, for consolidation, and during the shear phase. The PPD is also suitable for measuring cell water volume changes and flow rates in permeability tests.

The burette can be used to carry out precise water volume measurements under controlled pressure. The standard total volume of the burette is 50 ml. The integrated precision pressure regulator allows a comfortable adjustment of the desired pressure. The measuring burette can be refilled or emptied at any time (even during the experiment). Burettes with larger volumes are optionally available. For automatic measurement data acquisition, the volumetric burettes are supplied with fill level sensors and electronics for signal conversion.

The individual volume measuring devices (each with a measuring burette) can be easily cascaded to form a complete triaxial control panel. The volume measuring devices are connected directly to the triaxial or permeability cell via quick-release systems.

In the PPD.A version (with differential pressure sensor), the fill level is converted into an analyzable analog signal (0 .. 10 V DC) using a special sensor, shown on the device display and sent to a PC via the RS232 interface.
