The oedometer cell OCF40.20 is suitable for carrying out the “one-dimensional compression tests” and is primarily used for examining fine-grained material. The “floating” sample ring reduces wall friction effects when the sample is loaded.

For sample installation, the “floating” sample ring is held in position with the help of 3 rotatable bolts. After applying the first load step, the locking of the sample ring is released by simply turning these bolts and the sample ring begins to “levitate”.

A clear plastic ring easily mounts on the base of the oedometer cell. This allows the oedometer cell to be filled with water and the sample to be watered. An O-ring integrated in the base ensures the seal between the oedometer cell and the casing.
